About the Company

The Community Dance Ensemble (CDE) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization of dance students who perform throughout New England at nursing homes, senior centers, hospitals and benefit concerts.

In 2002, the CDE received the Rell’s Reward, an award for outstanding community service from the then Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut, M. Jodi Rell.

The CDE studies and rehearses at The Dance Extension and frequently travels to attend special master classes, performances, conventions, and educational performance programs such as Walt Disney World’s Performing Arts OnStage, the Radio City Rockette Experience, Jacob’s Pillow, Legacy/NYC, and the Tremaine Dance Convention.  The dancers have attended classes at NYC’s Broadway Dance Center and Steps Studio as well as with dancers from many Broadway musicals, including Billy Elliot, Cats, Hairspray & Tarzan

They have also performed at Walt Disney World Resort, Hershey Park and the Garde Arts Center. The CDE was honored to be invited to perform for veterans at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke, MA and children at the Shriner's Hospital in Springfield, MA.

"The CDE dancers carry on their performance with such talent and charisma providing a captive audience of residents, families and staff. The residents enjoy watching the dancers and reminiscing back to the days when they were dancers themselves.  We continue to welcome and look forward to each performance!"
