Congratulations on your successful audition and membership in the Community Dance Ensemble!  Here is some preliminary information to get our new season off to a great start.  We look forward to a spectacular year with you!

Communication

 

1. Performers' Contact Info

- Please update your dancer's contact info at CDE Corner prior to June 21st:  Click!  

 - A CDE list will be distributed once all contact info is updated.   

 

2. Remind.com 

The CDE sends group text messages via Remind.com, a service used by educators nationwide. This is a CDE specific list (i.e. it is not the same as the TDE list.)

 

If you are already receiving CDE text messages, you do NOT need to sign up again   

 Remind Sign Up Instructions (via iPad, computer, cell phone) for CDE texts.

2. Enter either your cell phone # (if you want texts to go to your cell) or email address (if  you want texts to go to your email.) 

3. A screen will pop up asking for a code #. The code # to enter will arrive either on your cell or email (whichever you selected in step 2.)  

4. Enter code.  

5. You'll receive a text message asking you to enter your first and last name. Enter and send. 

6. A confirmation will be sent that you're a member of the "cdeinc" group list.  

 

3. Calendar 

1. Check the CDE Google Calendar at www.communitydanceensemble.org/calendar 

This calendar lists both TDE and CDE dates. 

2. Add this calendar to your personal Google Calendar by clicking the +Google Calendar  button under the Calendar (right hand side)

 

Tentative Fall Performances

  • Sat., October 26th: Halloween Festival at Mitchell College (Dress Rehearsal 10/25)

  • Sat. & Sun., December 14th & 15th: Nursing Homes & Caroling at Briarcliff (Dress 12/13)

Details are sent via email (or via link within in the calendar) as soon as a date is confirmed. Rehearsals for these performances may be held on Saturdays.

Summer Intensive at The Dance Extension
July th - August th, 2018  (Monday to Friday)

Section 1: Ages 9+ (Recommended for Junior Company): 

M - Th, 4:30 - 8 pm at Chapman Studio & Fri 5-8:30 pm at NL Studio

Section 2: Ages 13+ (Recommended for Senior Company): 

M- Th, 5:30 - 9 pm  & Fri 5-8:30 pm at NL Studio

 

Attendance at The Dance Extension's Summer Intensive is mandatory for CDE dancers. The Intensive includes technique classes (ballet, tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, hip hop), World Dance, and new choreography to be performed the following season at benefit concerts and community performances. The main goals of the intensive are technique enhancement, exposure to global dance techniques, adding new choreography to the established CDE repertory, and ensuring dancers do not spend valuable rehearsal time relearning choreography over consecutive seasons. 

Tuition: $685 for 3 Weeks 

A $100 non-refundable deposit is due on June 1st to reserve a spot in the program.
The tuition balance is due on July 1st.

Payment is accepted via check payable to The Dance Extension (mail to: The Dance Extension, 8 Chapman Avenue, Quaker Hill, CT 06375) or via a credit/debit card on file with The Dance Extension. If a payment plan is needed, contact TDE Team at team@danceextension.com. 

 

Please note there are no refunds for missed classes. Refunds in the event of illness or injury are at the discretion of the director.

 

 

1st CDE Meeting of the Season

Wednesday, July h, 2018

7 pm at the New London Studio

Dancers who successfully passed the audition must attend this meeting accompanied by a parent/guardian. This is a mandatory organizational meeting. (Dancewear is not needed.) 
 

Please bring the following to the meeting:

 

1. Signed & initialed copy of the 2018-2019 CDE Performer Guidelines

  • Download the Guidelines at CDE Corner on the CDE Website (Login Info above.)  To be posted by 6/15/18.

  • Print two copies. 

  • Read the guidelines thoroughly. 

  • Initial each page in the lower left-hand corner (both dancer & parent initials are required). 

  • Sign on page 15 and the last page.  

  • Turn in the signed and initialed copy to your advisor at the meeting. 

  • Keep the 2nd copy for your records. 

Guidelines Due Date: July th, 2018. This is a firm deadline. Refer to Guidelines' last page.

 

 2. Physician's Form

Permission from your dancer's doctor is required for participation. A simple note that states "Name of Dancer is cleared to participate in dance classes and perform with the CDE" or a copy of the health form provided to the dancer's academic institution will suffice. 

Physician's Form Due Date: July th. This is a firm deadline. Refer to Guidelines p. 2. If your dancer's physical is scheduled for August, email the date of the appointment to your advisor (and cc the CDE) so we have the info in writing.

 

CDE Fleece Jackets

 

  • 1st Year Members: A jacket will be ordered for you. Sample jackets will be available at the meeting on July ()th. Please be sure to tell your advisor the size you'd like.

  • 2nd Year Members: Please return your fleece jacket to your advisor on 7//18 for name embroidery on the front. Clearly print your first name or nickname (i.e. how you would like it to appear on the jacket) on a piece of paper, and safety pin it to the front of the jacket.  

  • 3rd+ Year Members: New Include info on how to order a new jacket. Cost and bring money tot he first meeting (therefore eliminating extra email to send re jackets)


4.  CDE Fleece Jackets

 

Finances

 

All CDE fees (membership fee, initiation fee, events, travel) are paid at CDE Corner via PayPal.  Paypal offers a quick, secure and convenient way to pay by

  • Direct debit from your bank's checking account;

  • A debit card;

  • A credit card; or

  • A PayPal Account.

You do not need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal.

 

Note: The board voted to raise dues & fundraising minimums by $3 per week for the 2018-19 season.


If your family is experiencing financial difficulty or is unable to meet a deadline, email or call us asap. The CDE financial plan is designed to meet the operating expenses of the group while ensuring all dancers who have successfully passed the audition have the opportunity to perform. Every effort will be made to accommodate families on an individual basis so that all dancers can experience the joy and benefits of being a CDE Performer.

Weekly Rehearsals

Repertory rehearsals begin on Friday, September 9th, Time: TBD

New choreography will be taught on Fridays.

 

Fall Performances

Check the CDE Corner for important dates. Details are sent via email as soon as a date is confirmed. Rehearsals for these performances may be held on Saturdays.  We understand not all dancers can attend all performances. If you have a conflict with a dress rehearsal or performance day, please email your advisor (and cc the CDE) asap.

  • Sat., October 21st: Total Life Expo at Mohegan Sun (Dress Rehearsal 10/20)

  • Sat., October 28th: Halloween Festival at Mitchell College (Dress Rehearsal 10/27)

2018 TDE Biennial Performance 

The TENTATIVE date for The Dance Extension's 2018 biennial performance is Sunday, June 3rd, 2018. Note: All dates are tentative and may be changed by GAC

If you presently have a conflict with any of the dates outlined below, email your adviser (and cc the CDE) asap.

  • Studio Rehearsals: Sundays, April 29th, May 6th, & May 20th, approx. 12 noon-9 pm

  • Marquee Photo: Tuesday, May 29th, Time: Approx 6:30-8 pm

  • On Stage Rehearsals: Thursday, May 31st AND Friday, June 1st, 3-10 pm

  • Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, June 2nd, Time TBD

  • Performance Day: Sunday, June 3rd at 2 pm

 

Fall classes
Fall Classes at TDE begin on Monday, September 11th. Enrollment is open. CDE dancers must be enrolled in fall classes by Aug. 1st. Class Placement/Levels are in the "Notes" section of your TDE online account.
